Understanding doctors’ behaviour: How cardiologists use our app for disease management
In cardiology, staying updated on the latest drug information and treatment protocols is essential. Our app, designed specifically for healthcare professionals, has become an indispensable tool for cardiologists, assisting them in disease management. In this post, we will explore cardiologist behavior in our app, focusing on how doctors in Romania search for drugs and improve patient outcomes.
Global insights
To demonstrate the importance of our app among cardiologists, our data shows, that on average a cardiologist uses our app approximately 34 times each month or about 4 times daily.
ATC classification trends
Among the medicines viewed by cardiologists in our database, direct factor Xa inhibitors, particularly rivoxaban, are the most frequently searched. Additionally, antibiotics like amoxicillin and ciprofloxacin, along with antithrombotics such as apixaban and antiarrhytmics like flecainide, rank high. Selective beta-blockers, especially metoprolol, and drugs targeting the renin-angiotensin system, including perindopril, amlodipine, and indapamide, are also frequently searched.

A closer look: Romanian cardiologists leading the way
As we analyse the usage of data from our app, one notable insight stands out: a significant number of cardiologists utilising our platform are from Romania. Romanian cardiologists, like their global peers, face the challenge of staying updated on the latest drug information and treatment options while maintaining high standards for patient care. However Romanians healthcare system is rapidly evolving, and digital solutions are becoming essential for improving patient outcomes. Let's take a closer look!
The drug database: A core tool
- Every day more than 400 cardiologists use our app
- Every week nearly 1000 cardiologists use our app
- Every month nearly 1.300 cardiologists use our app
This data highlights that Romanian cardiologists consistently rely on our drug database to access up-to-date information on heart medications. With approximately 45,000 sessions per month, they actively engage with our platform to support their clinical decisions. Some of the most frequently searched medications include:

Our analyses provide an even more detailed overview
Our app’s analytics have revealed some interesting trends in the medications frequently searched by Romanian cardiologists. A very illustrative example is Xarelto and Eliquis, which are constantly competing to see which one will take the top spot in searches.

Tools used by cardiologists
Beyond daily tasks, many Romanian cardiologists are taking advantage of our CMEs and Tools. Our app provides an array of advanced tools that help doctors make data-driven decisions in patient care. Romanian cardiologists are using our tools more than 4000 times a month.
Most often our tool for estimating kidney function is used. This is cruicial for managing patients with cardiovascular and renal comorbidities, especially when adjusting drug dosages. Body mass index tool is also common for assessing weight-related cardiovascular problems.
Image 1: Two examples of our tools in the Romanian app: CHA2DS2, CHA2DS2-Vasc
Based on our data the CHA2DS2 and CHA2DS2-Vasc tools are also heavily used, helping cardiologists assess stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation to guide anticoagulation therapy decisions. Additionally, the QTc calculator is frequently accessed, allowing cardiologists to monitor and prevent arrhytmias by calculating the corrected QT interval. Other commonly used tools include the HAS-BLED score, which helps assess bleeding risks in patients on anticoagulants.
Continuing medical education (CME): Learning on the go
The most visited content was the one we developed together with top KOLs in the country and focuses on heart failure management, followed by the other CMEs available, which are of great interest among cardiologists.
The fact that our accredited training courses are extremely popular among cardiologists is demonstrated by the fact that a total of almost 12.500 CME credits have been awarded to cardiologists in the time period from 1.3.2024 to 31.8.2024 (6 months)
Conclusion
All this data shows the great relevance of our content for the daily use of cardiologists. We strive to have an up-to-date understanding of physician behaviour. By continuing to invest in our tools and resources, we aim to further empower cardiologists in their mission to provide the best possible care for patients.
